GlobalSmart: Instilling Cultural Intelligence and Competency. To develop “global cultural competency” in your workforce, begin by developing this competency in instructional designers and trainers.
Description: The global economy has exposed the lack of cultural competency in many organizations, especially those that are locally or US based and have only recently established a global presence. To be competitive, organizations must address this gap, especially for employees who: 1) work with global colleagues based in non-US locations, 2) interact with non-US customers and suppliers and 3) design and deliver training, create marketing strategies, sell, manage customer relations and support. In order to develop training and development initiatives to address this gap, training and development professionals must first become culturally competent.
This brief program will identify some of the most critical cultural competencies for training and development professionals based on the expertise of Global LT, providers of language training, culture training, ex-pat services and translations and their partner in workforce/leadership development, Career Growth Associates, Inc. specialists in customer solutions for organizational, leadership, and workforce development.
Learning Objectives:
-
Understand what global cultural competence is and why it’s a critical competency.
-
Recognize the implications of culture in designing programs for global audiences.
-
Identify the competitive advantage of a culturally competent workforce.
